It took me a minute to realize that after nearly 20 years of taking a medication for migraines, that it was no longer effective. I didn’t need it anymore. I had been healed.
When I was younger, in my teens, I would get migraines off and on. I was told that was normal in our family and hereditary. I accepted that and eventually got put on medication for migraine prevention. As the years went by, I would eventually suffer from head traumas due to domestic violence which would intensify the migraines and after trying multiple medications, I finally started taking the same one my mom was taking.
Side note: my mom is my adopted mom or aunt who my paternal father’s sister. I make this note because it is important to understand lineage and how things get passed down from one generation to the next and through whom that happens.
She had been taking the medication for years for migraines and stated that my grandmother had them as well. When I accepted the medication and thought that “if they have it, I must too”, I opened a door that God never intended for me to walk through. You see, doors to generational curses get opened in our lives, and we willingly walk through them for lack of knowledge of Scripture and who Jesus really is and what He did for us on the cross. Our lack of understanding gives way to sin and a foothold to the enemy. That foothold starts out small and grows the more we allow satan to have it on us.
Think about this for a moment…a foot, a member of your body, what you use to walk on each day, has immense power for the Kingdom of Heaven.
For it is written in the Word of God:
“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.” Joshua 1:3
“So, Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God fully.’” Joshua 14:9
“How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace
And brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!’” Isaiah 52:7
“How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!’” Romans 10:15
Therefore, everywhere our feet tread has spiritual significance. If we continuously give the devil a foothold, we are hindering the purpose for which our feet have, to take territory for the Kingdom of God. We open doors and allow him to walk and sit at the table with us, break bread with us, and then hold our feet in oppression, of which none of that we have to do, once we have the knowledge to combat him. I didn’t know this for a long time. I didn’t realize that accepting medication and the “generational curse” was going to cause me to stumble or hold me back. I didn’t fully understand who Jesus is and what He had done for me. Knowing and understanding are two different things, and each have significance.
You can know Jesus but not understand what He has fully done for you because it takes getting in the Word of God to get that understanding. It takes pressing in, fasting, praying, inner healing and deliverance to get closer and closer so that blockages, doors, and footholds are removed and closed. For some discussing inner healing and deliverance causes anguish, mostly from bad experiences. They run in the opposite direction out of fear, lack of understanding, and the notion that if you are a Christian (Christ follower), then you don’t need deliverance. You might just need some counseling. I am living proof that this is not accurate. We all need inner healing and deliverance because we live in a broken world and let’s face it…stuff happens in life. We open doors and they need to be shut. We get hurt and it needs to be healed. We have wounds, ripped open scars, and so much that Jesus wants to heal for us. It takes more than just sitting with someone to get it all out. No shade to counseling…. I know that works too and I advocate for it.
My purpose in telling you is because it wasn’t until I ha further inner healing and deliverance that I was healed from the need for the migraine medication. I had deep wounds in me that had been there for decades that needed to be healed. Trauma wounds that had me believing I would need to take migraine medication forever, among other things. I truly believed for a while that Jesus would heal me of everything but that because I was told it ran in my family. Well, not anymore! Once I received inner healing and deliverance, I was healed of migraines! It just took me praying and seeking the Lord. I had to tarry for this healing. I had to fight for this healing. I did have moments where I would beg and cry for it to be taken from me because I didn’t want to continue to take the medication for the rest of my life.
How many of you are on a medicine that you want to get off of? How many of you are fighting to heal and struggling in the process? How many of you want to free from an addiction of some sort yet still battle with thoughts and urges?
Jesus can take every bit of that from you so you can walk in freedom and live the way God created you to live. We were not meant to live in poverty in our souls and minds. We were meant to live in freedom because of Jesus.
Sometimes people get healed instantaneously and others need deliverance and inner healing. When we open doors in our lives to satan and his demonic forces, we are allowing anything to walk through them. We don’t get to pick and choose what or who comes through the door as if it were a natural occurrence. It’s not. We are opening doors to the spiritual realm. That is why it is important to not partner with generational curses over your family or yourself. Instead of saying, “Oh well that runs in my family so I must have it too” or “I get it honest from my parents” or “Well they had cancer and died at this age so that must be what will happen to me” and so forth. You can choose life. You can choose to shut those doors to the enemy and remove his foothold over your life and that of your generations so that no one ever has to walk through them again. You were meant to walk in complete healing and freedom. You do not have to accept the lie that you will always have something or that you were meant to die at a certain age. Just because someone in your family did doesn’t mean that you will, if you believe the cross and what was purchased on it on your behalf.
We are given options in life. For a while I chose the options that seemed to go in line with my family. However, the cross paid it all and it did for you as well. I am thankful to God that I no longer carry the burden and sickness of migraines. I am thankful to God that I no longer take the medication for them either. When I realized it wasn’t working, I poured Peroxide in the prescription I just got about a week before and disposed of the medication. I chose in that moment to believe in healing and deliverance, again. I chose in that moment to trust God for what He did and know without a doubt that I won’t have to take it again. I closed the door that was open not just for me, but for my family and the generations to follow. You can do the same. Break those curses. Close those doors. Allow Jesus to shed light on what might have been opened for you…be the curse breaker in your family. Rise out of the darkness and into His light so that you too can be free.
I know that My Savior Lives! I know that radical healing is possible through the finished works of the cross! I am praying you know or come to know the same! Matthew 8:17, “that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying, ‘He himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.’”
Love, Faythe
If you don’t know Jesus and you are not saved, then I encourage you to say a prayer for salvation. It is not complicated, and it only takes your YES and surrender. You can pray the prayer below or you can say your own. I also encourage you to get into the Word of God and discover Jesus for yourself. I can say all kinds of things and give all kinds of testimonies, but this is still your walk, and it will look different than mine. Knowing the real Jesus changes everything.
Dear Jesus,
I am a sinner in need of you. I acknowledge you, the finished works of the cross, and ask that you come into my heart to dwell there. I repent of my sins (__________ name them) and ask that you forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Would you please teach me and lead me in your everlasting ways? Would you please show me how to live a godly life and cloak me with humility as I begin this new journey with you? Also, would you please baptize me with the Holy Spirit and fire. I accept you into my life and surrender it to you.
Amen.
You can add to this prayer as you pray. Your heart is known by the Father and your sincerity of heart in asking Jesus into your life as your personal Savior, will be heard by Him. Be real and honest with yourself and with Jesus. Repentance is also key. Jesus loves you and wants to do life with you! I encourage you to take the leap of faith. You won’t regret it!
