Giants Modus Operandi #12: They try to steal your dreams and rest

Genesis 32

There was once a young boy named Joseph who had a dream. He didn’t understand that he was to guard the dream in his heart so he shared it. He was misunderstood and it cost him. Into a pit he went for a time, then sold into slavery not knowing why. Stripped he was of a precious coat. Whisked away in chains like a cruel joke. Joseph wrestled and Joseph fought with giants he knew of naught.

For many years he prayed and tried to just make it back to his father alive. But God saw Joseph as a beautiful vessel for which He could use to pour out blessings. God used him and made him 2nd in command and blessed him with rest in a foreign land.

Joseph’s dreams were restored, his family too – and we can use his life as a lesson, me and you!

No matter what the giants try to take, God is always watching and He will make a way. A way out. A way up. Yes that’s what He’ll do! To a life laid down and surrendered to Him. Make no mistake this He will do!

You see friends, Joseph may have losth is dreams and rest temporarily, but God never once took His eyes of His son. He used the giants schemes to strengthen Joseph in the pits and the palace. Because His plan was more perfect than Joseph could have imagined.

It may take a while sometimes for the dreams we had to return, but our God fights for us so fiercely that the giants we face will never fully win over us.

Many times throughout Joseph’s life he was knocked down and forgotten by man. He had to fight against rejection, bitterness, anger, grief, sadness, unfair treatment, lies and false accusations, and loss of family. I can imagine many times he may have felt like he would never see his brothers or father again.

There was once a time I felt the same way. When you are being trafficked, you have no idea if you will ever see those you love again. Each day comes with it’s own fears. Each day brings trauma. Each day you fight just to stay alive and not overdose on drugs. Each day is different.

But there is something deep within you that makes you keep fighting another day. A hope that cannot be shaken even if it is small. A longing for freedom that no one can take from you. And a love that may be buried under all the pain, but nevertheless reminds you that it is worth it to keep fighting.

Like Joseph, I had many things taken away and have had to fight against the giants to get to a place of freedom. But knowing that I can’t do it on my own. Joseph knew God and God knew him. He chose Him. Like He has chosen me and you for great things. We just can’t give up.

Continuing to presito Jesus whengiants are robbing us can be hard. Our flesh surely wants to fight back in ways that can be more damaging. But we must hold onto the truth – God’s promises never fail.

God promises that those who love Him will enter His rest (Hebrews 4:1).

And the Word is full of stories of those who fought giants like we do and prevailed. So hold onto hope today and don’t give up.

Giants always fall!
